Leather Sourcing and Purchase:
To develop and implement key sourcing and procurement strategies, contingency plans and ensure that the plans are aligned to cater the in-house finished leather requirements.
To lead the sourcing and purchase function to procure high quality finished leathers for the large scale requirements from the shoe upper and full shoe manufacturing units of Sara Ambur.
Have a pool of tanneries in the domestic and overseas market, who can able to offer various designs and develop various kinds of finished leather articles.
1) Sourcing and procurement of high quality finished leathers.
2) Coordinating with the tanneries, leather suppliers and vendors for development of various kinds of finished leather articles and leather development for making shoe uppers and full shoes.
3) Sourcing and identification new tanneries, leather suppliers and vendors in the domestic and global market.
4) Expertise in leather process and production from raw material to finished leather like full chrome and veg tanned leathers for manufacturing shoe uppers and full shoes.
5) Job work planning for Leather Finishing and Quality Assurance.
6) Cost effective leather sourcing and procurement.
7) Regular follow ups with the tanneries, leather suppliers on bulk production and development (sample) leathers.
Leather Production and Quality:
To coordinate with the in-house tannery, supplier tanneries, vendors, traders in the complete production process to achieve the desired production targets within the timelines set.
Inspect and control the quality of finished leather purchasing and procurement to meet the SATRA standards.
Frequent visits to the tanneries, leather suppliers, vendors, traders etc., to analyse and educate the quality requirements, standards are in order to avoid hassle free issues on leather quality.
Educate the tanneries, suppliers and vendors for testing protocols in terms of physical performance and chemical testing standards of banned substances to achieve the desired norms and specifications.
To guide the tanneries, suppliers, vendors, traders to implement and update the recipe, production process, operational control systems to avoid and overcome the foreign particles and toxic chemicals existence in the finished leathers.
Establish quality management systems across various stages of production to reduce rejection levels and achieve high quality standards.
Leather Assortment and Grading:
To assort the various types of finished leather articles based on SATRA method and to carry out physical check and chemical test to scrutiny whether the leather articles are capable to suit the shoe uppers and full shoe manufacturing process.
Finished Leather assortment for various kinds of articles such as Cow, Buff, Goat and Sheep like softy nappa, oil pull up, CG, mubuck, crazy horse, PU, patent, natural milled, printed milled, waxy leather etc.
To meet and full fill the shoe upper and full shoe factories finished leather requirements by co-ordinating with the production and AQL teams.
Inventory Control, Stores and Warehouse Management:
Maintain a leather article library for the current and upcoming season requirements well organized and be functional at any point of time. Set seasonal colour standards and article masters for all types of leather articles being used in shoe uppers and full shoe production.
To ensure optimum inventory levels for achieving cost savings without hampering the on time supply of finished leather requirements for the shoe upper and full shoe factories.
Required Candidate profileCandidates with B.Tech (Leather Technology) / M.Tech (Footwear Science) around 10 -12 years of experience preferably in Shoe Manufacturing (or) Leather Garments Manufacturing (or) Leather Goods Manufacturing
Expertise in leather quality, leather types (Cow/Sheep/Goat/Buffalo), leather sorting, leather grading etc.Have an in-depth knowledge of tanneries in the local and international market having the ability and potential to produce various kinds of leather articles.
Vendor and Supply Chain Management with a pool of Tanneries domestic and exposure to global sourcing.Hands on experience in leather shoe manufacturing industry, leather footwear or leather goods or leather garments manufacture.Should able to handle independently a large scale Leather Store with a team of procurement assistants, QC inspectors, leather assorters etc.Knowledge on Inventory Management, Store and Warehouse functions.
