Job description

We are building solutions for the management and delivery of communications at the scale of Nike's global athlete community. We rely upon Agile principles to devise cloud-based solutions to build a best-in-class communications platform. We participate in the open-source community and partner with key vendors. At our core we are a team with diverse talents and interests that strive to build world class platforms. Together we will build a world class communications platform, which is a key piece to the global marketing teams for the delivery of targeted content to the world's athletes.

Goals of the Marketing Technology group at Nike:
* Measure our impact and continually improve our connection to the consumer
* Support Nike's Marketing team to inspire athletes using digital media
* Automate the production of marketing images and video
We are looking for experienced Senior Engineering Manager to join our team in Bengaluru, India.
The senior engineering manager supports a squad of world class engineers, manages delivery priorities and ensures high quality and well architected solutions are delivered on time and within budget. Also, the person should be able to perform below behaviors in their day-to-day role:
* Analytic Project Execution - Own and deliver multiple and complex analytic projects in the journey analytics domain. This requires an understanding of business context, analytics design and execution, and the ability to translate analytical insights into concrete recommendations for action.
* Analytic Platform Leadership - Create industry-leading journey analytics capabilities. Develop processes to ensure that the platform is consistent, accurate, and reliable today and forward-compatible for tomorrow. Champion journey analytics for the analytics organization and our partners.
* Strategic acumen - Should possess ability to see the big picture of business, identify and understand emerging trends, challenge status quo and design goals for growth
* Client Obsession - Create client centric analytic solution to business problems. Individual should be able to have a holistic view of multiple businesses and develop analytic solutions accordingly.
* Communication skills - Ability to translate and articulate technical thoughts and ideas to a larger audience including influencing skills with peers and senior management.
* Apply critical thinking and data analysis skills using our Customer Journey Analytics platform to develop robust journey insights and recommendations that drive change.
* Work with line of business partners to understand and document the data generated by their interaction systems and customer life-cycle events.
* Prioritize analyses, develop tactical approaches, and manage analyst work streams.
* Establish processes, document methodologies, benchmarks and key learnings for Customer Journey Analytics
* Deliver executive-level presentations that communicate business relevance of the analysis performed and recommended solutions.
* Provide engineering leadership and best practices to continuously deliver working software
* Collaborating with product team members at Nike to design, develop, and deploy a highly scalable digital asset management system and services.
* Collaborate with upstream and downstream technical teams to develop integrations to provide a seamless flow of our marketing assets from planning to delivery.
* Participating in the construction of new features and identifying areas for improvement proactively
* The squad you lead will work on innovating, architecting, designing, and implementing highly available, scalable systems, focusing on highly visible marketing initiatives
This role is part of the Nike's Marketing Automation team within Marketing Technology.


* Academic background in computer science (BS or MS) or equivalent work experience
* 10+ years of software development experience, including data engineering or analytics space
* A minimum of 7 years management experience of high performing software engineering teams
* Leadership in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment
* Strong exposure to any analytics and big data technologies (Greenplum, Hadoop)
* Experience using Tableau or other BI tools
* Experience with SAS, R, and/or other data mining tools.
* Ability to present fact-based recommendations in a clear, logical, and concise way; "tell a story" with data
* Strong exposure to Abode Analytics and Adobe Experience Platform suite of tools including Journey Orchestration is preferred
* Experience of building microservices using cloud services to build an integrated application (AWS preferred).
* Exposure to tuning relational database (MySQL) and non-relation DB (MongoDB, Dynamo DB).
* Experience working with Product Managers, other development teams, and QA teams to accelerate software development and increase quality.
* Comfortable working within an exciting fast-paced environment by reducing ambiguity and building trust with the team
* Willingness to explore new technologies and creative solutions
* Strong at estimating work, planning, organization, and implementing complex software projects
* Experience with implementing CI/CD and leading teams with DevOps responsibilities of deploying and supporting the software in production
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
* Comfortable working with globally distributed and diverse teams
* Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
